The thing about Grand Theft Auto games is that they will ALWAYS stir up controversy and spark conversation, with Jack Thompson and his “murder simulator” comments or folks who seem to think you get points for shooting hookers. For me, Grand Theft Auto games are phenomenal cinematic experiences that tell a story no different than “The Godfather“, “Boyz N The Hood“, or any one of a multimillion dollar box-office breaking crime stories. On top of that, Rockstar has a tendency to create top of the line quality gameplay that sets a standard that many other companies look to. Rockstar ALWAYS has a killer soundtrack to the GTA franchise and GTA IV sounds to be no exception.
With all that said, this trailer continues the cinematic look and feel of the latest in the Grand Theft Auto franchise as we follow our Eastern European protagonist as he struggles to navigate the dark underbelly of Liberty City. GTA games also tend to have great radio personalities (and special guest stars) to listen to as you drive around and I am looking forward to seeing what stars have lent their talent to the characters of the game, with GTA:SA starring such amazing talent as Michael Rappaport, Ice T, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Penn, James Woods and a ton of other people I bet you know.
This trailer uses a killer soundtrack (brownie points if you can identify the artist), some great quick cuts, and lots of blowie-uppie-ness with a bit of John Woo Slo Mo to rock you in the socks.
