This year’s Toronto Zombie Walk was a hoot, and the only thing that could top it off, is an evening of zombie movies. The main feature was Steve Miller’s highly anticipated “Automoton Transfusion“, and it was preceded by Steve Miller’s (no relation) “Zombie Jesus“. “Zombie Jesus” was an amusing little short that used a succession of terrible puns and footage from last year’s Toronto Zombie Walk to tell the tale of a woman who travels to her father’s small town to clear up her relationship with her father. What she doesn’t know is that Zombie Jesus is in town and converting its population into zombies that follow him.
Director Steve Miller (no relation) chose to take scripture and interpret it in such a fashion that it fit into the zombie mythos. Scenes were met with cheers and hoots as one Zombie Grannie just wouldn’t seem to die. Eventually the heroine reunites with her father, but too late until the bond between father and daughter saves him, and the rest of the town. It ends with room for a sequel, and it wouldn’t surprise me if it was being shot during this year’s walk. I want to say that “Zombie Jesus” was terrible, but I enjoyed myself far too much as I, and the rest of the crowd reveled in the schlockiness. It wasn’t amazing, but it was some fine work in the campy end of the spectrum.

Hey – when will the BWE write a review?
This is a point of contention among the Renerd.com offices as she is not terribly confident in her abilities as a writer. I have attempted to remind her that I am a terrible writer and yet I continue to write. So, as a compromise, we discuss in detail, her thoughts on the movies that we see before I post anything.
It is possible that I can get her to write an official review tonight, which would be amazing.
