Oh Ar-Doo!

A while back I was very excited to take my son and nephews to the latest cinematic offering in the Star Wars universe, “The Clone Wars“. I can’t say I was expecting a piece of historic filmmaking, but I was at least expecting to be entertained. Instead I was assaulted with a terrible script and annoying characters. I hated it. It was garbage. I had one nephew that didn’t like it, and one that loved it. Since then The Boy has become obsessed with watch “Ar-Doo” (R2-D2) and “Oa-akkh” (Yoda)

Since the release of that film, the TV series has started up and I was curious to know how it would stand up, compared to the film. I understand the film was actually three episodes tied together, but it just didn’t seem to flow well. Watching “The Clone Wars” in half-hour increments, however, seems to be a much more ideal format.

Sure it isn’t the same thrilling experience as watching the original trilogy. I don’t know if anything ever will be. But there is certainly no greater thrill, for me, than sitting and spending that 30 minutes with my son watching the adventures of “Oa-akkh” and “Ar-Doo”. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
